I am saddened to hear of Hurley's passing and to the family I am sorry for your loss. This is yet another great loss to the Local Community.
I have known Hurley most all of my life. Growing up I spent a lot of time working, hunting, fishing, eating barbecue and listing to good stories around a fire with him.
I will always remember when I told him I had bought property there in Oxford to build a home on and I wanted him to come by and see it, he said he would follow me there from Wildwood. When he turned off behind me I thought he had changed his mind. After a short while He showed up with a set of Persimmon Dowsing Rods and Witched my well. He stomped his foot and said with that defining grin, "Drill it right here, This is where two streams cross." That was the best tasting and coldest water I have ever had straight from a well.
I recognized it then and know it still today that not only was it a gift from the heart it was also a gift that you could never put a price on. I will always be grateful.
I was lucky and honored to have known him and will always remember his laugh, that grin and the lifelong knowledge he shared.
