Lisa Shoemaker Obituary
There are some people who leave a room quietly, and there are others whose
personality fills it long after they’ve gone. Lisa Shoemaker was one of those people.
Lisa, 69, of Wildwood, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026, and entered
into the presence of the Lord she loved.
She was born on July 16, 1957, in Leesburg , Florida, to Robert Alexander Shoemaker, Sr.
and Leda Belle (Maddox) Shoemaker, who both preceded her in death. She was also
preceded in death by her former husband, Rod Young.
Lisa was a proud graduate of Wildwood High School and later earned her degree from
the University of Florida, remaining a loyal Florida Gator for the rest of her life. Although
her career took her to Atlanta, Houston, Chicago, and Lansing, Illinois, Wildwood was
always home. It was the place she talked about, the place she returned to, and the place
that forever held her heart.
For many years, Lisa worked in public relations with the Hyatt Hotel Corporation, a
profession that suited her perfectly. She loved people, loved conversation, and had a
way of making life feel just a little bigger.
And that was Lisa.
She didn’t simply like something—it was FABULOUS! A good meal wasn’t just delicious—
it was WONDERFUL! She embraced life with enthusiasm, color, and joy. Her excitement
was contagious, her expressions unforgettable, and her personality impossible to
ignore. Those who loved her can still hear her voice, laughter, and see her smile
whenever they think of her.
She loved traveling and discovering new places, but she was just as happy preparing a
meal for family or tending to her flowers. She had a soft spot for animals and never
forgot her beloved dog, Gizmo, who held a special place in her heart long after he was
gone.
Like all of us, Lisa’s life was not without challenges. Yet through every season, her faith
remained an anchor. She loved the Lord and believed deeply in His grace, mercy, and
promise of eternal life. Her family finds comfort knowing she is now whole, at peace,
and finally home.
Lisa is survived by her brother, Robert Alexander “Bobby” Shoemaker, Jr. and his wife,
Terri, of Lake Panasoffkee; her niece, Brandi Cudjoe of Wildwood; her nephew, Robert
Alexander “Robbie” Shoemaker, III and his wife, Jamie, of Oxford; her great-nephews,
Kelton Cudjoe and Robert Alexander “Robbie” Shoemaker, IV; her great -niece, Charlie
Shoemaker; and many cousins, dear friends, and extended family members who will
forever treasure the memories she leaves behind.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 4th at 11:00AM at Banks/Page-
Theus Funeral Home in Wildwood, FL.
As we remember Lisa, may we remember not only the places she traveled or the
accomplishments she achieved, but the way she made ordinary moments feel
extraordinary. She reminded us that life was meant to be enjoyed, that family was
meant to be cherished, and that even on difficult days, there was still something
wonderful to be found.
If Lisa could leave us with one final word, we have no doubt it wouldn't be "goodbye."
It would simply be...
"Isn't it WONDERFUL!"
And knowing she is now at peace with her Savior, we know she truly would mean it.
