Leta M Allis' Obituary
Leta M. Allis, 72, of Coleman, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2017. Mrs. Allis was born August 13, 1944 in Waverly, NY to Robert and Marvene (Powell) Compton. She moved to Coleman in 1983 from Bath, NY. Leta had retired from the customer service department at Bright House in Wildwood. She was a member of the Coleman United Methodist Church and helped with the children’s church. She loved children which made this a great ministry for her. Leta was also very proud to be one of the founding members of the Sumter County Pilots Club and a professional clown, “M.T. Pockets”. Survivors include her loving husband of 50 years, Joe; children, Dan and Denise Allis of Wichita, KS, Mike and Krista Allis of Waterloo, NY, Jennifer and Dwayne Leachman of Wildwood, Sean and Tracy Allis of Wildwood; brother, Lynn and Nancy Compton of Loganville, GA; sisters, Jacque and Bobby Bolen of Jackson, AL, Geriann and Gerri Hoernes of Poughkeepsie, NY, Jean Kafes of Towanda, PA; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Leta’s family and friends will celebrate her life 2:00pm, Sunday, January 15, 2017 in the Coleman United Methodist Church.
