Leonard Richardson's Obituary
Leonard Earl Richardson gracefully journeyed to the
Lord June 30, 2015 surrounded by his loving wife and
family after a three year battle with cancer.
A native of Woodstock, VA., Mr. Richardson was born
November 8th, 1940 to Annabell Clower Richardson and
Major Earl M. Richardson. After graduating from Woodstock
High School in 1958, he earned an undergraduate
degree from East Tennessee State University in 1963 and
a master’s degree from the University of Tennessee in
1965. He performed work toward a doctoral degree at the
University of Florida in 1968 and 1969.
Mr. Richardson first taught at Ann Wingfield School at
Culpeper. VA, and in 1966 moved to Florida to teach at
Naples High School and coached football. In 1967 he accepted
a position as history professor at Edison College in
Ft. Myers where he taught for 29 years and coached tennis
before retiring in 1969.
Len and Martha Ann Golub had three children, Leonard
E. Richardson, Jr.,(Kelly), of Cape Coral, FL, Virginia
C. Williams (Mark) of Sinking Spring, PA and Christa
L. Martin (Shane) of Fruitland Park Park, FL. In 1999
he married Hope Richardson. Besides his children and
14 grandchildren survivors include two step-children
JoAnn C. MacDougall of Lady Lake, FL., Robert D. Johnson
(Rebekah) of Tampa, FL.
Mr. Richardson was a master of LaBelle Masonic Lodge
(FL), in 1992 and of the Wildwood Masonic Lodge (FL).
He was a member and former trustee of Oxford United
Methodist Church, Oxford, FL.
A memorial service will be held at Oxford United Methodist
Church, 3906 E. CR 466, Oxford, FL July 11th at
10:30. The family has asked that friends consider memorial
gifts to Oxford United Methodist Church, P.O. Box
