Leonard James Koenig, 85, Leesburg, FL passed away on December 4, 2013 in Leesburg, FL. Mr. Koenig was born on March 2, 1928 in North Tonawanda, NY to his parents August and Eleanor Koenig. Mr. Koenig was a Machine Operator in the Manufacturing Industry and worked at his family’s grocery store “Koenig’s Market” in North Tonawanda, NY. He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Leesburg and had moved to the area in 1987 from North Tonawanda, NY. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army and was a member of the North Tonawanda Volunteer Fire Department in North Tonawanda, NY. He is survived by his loving children: Brenda (Robert) Kania of North Tonawanda, NY and John Koening of Buffalo, NY; a brother: Donald Koenig of North Tonawanda, NY; a sister: Margaret Milliman of North Tonawanda, NY; five grandchildren: Robert, Lori, Johnny, Matthew and Michael; four great-grandchildren: Leah, Matthew, Justin and Cody; several loving nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 8:30AM at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Leesburg, FL. with Interment to follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
