Lawton Andrew Gay's Obituary
Lawton (Pa) Andrew Gay, 78 Wildwood Fl passed away June 9, 2012 under the loving care of his children and the staff of Cornerstone Hospice.He was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Wildwood. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He attended Florida State Univerity.Lawton moved from Miami to Wildwood in 1967 with his wife JoAnne and ten children to the Funny Farm on 301. Lawton was the owner/operator of the Wildwood Truck Wash and Chrome Shop.He began his life as a plumber working with his father, plumbing the first McDonalds in Miami. He later bought and sold Commercial Property. He was a Chemical Engineer a Son, Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather and Great- Grandfather, Pa and Friend. He was a Jack-Of-All trade -- master of none. All his faults have already been well published over the years.He loved to travel. He loved Vegas and anything to do with water, the beach, ocean-fishing. He loved unique places and things. No matter where you went with him he could take you to an-out- of- the -way hole in the wall great restaurant. He built his dream home surrounding the Henry Green Springs in Wildwood. The home was built out of pecky cyprus and Glass. His favorite place was Stiltzville (his getaway in the middle of the ocean off of Key Biscayne) where his remains will be scattered. Lawton purchased show animals at the Sumter Co fair for many years always giving back to the kids and the community. Lawton was former member of the Cattlemans Assoc. Lawtons Ocelot “Ozzie” was the mascot for the Wildwood Wildcats for a number of years.He was preceded in death by his loving wife JoAnne. Donations may be made at any Wells Fargo Bank ~giving back to the kids of Sumter County. Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 18, 2012 at 6:00 PM in the Banks/Page-Theus Chapel.
