Laverne Robert Skutt's Obituary
Laverne Robert Skutt, 82, of Wildwood, FL, passed away on January 17, 2026. Laverne was born on February 25, 1943, in Newfane, NY to his loving parents; George Thomas and Flora Irene (Thompson) Skutt.
Verne was an employee of General Motors for about 33 years before he retired in 1999. Following his retirement, he and his wife, Bonnie, moved to Florida in 2000. Verne enjoyed spending his time bowling, playing horseshoes and especially playing baseball on the Continental Country Club team. He built the field that they play on to this day and was just recently inducted into their hall of fame. Verne was very active in his community and was also a member of a coffee club in Leesburg and regularly visited the pool in his community where he could strike up a conversation with anyone.
Verne was a very social and helpful man. He will be missed dearly and remembered fondly by his family and community.
Verne is survived by his children; Lavern R. Skutt Jr., Frank E. Skutt (Carrie) and Amy Lynne Poole (Thomas), seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren and a sister, Eva Kipp.
Laverne is preceded in passing by his loving wife of 58 years, Bonnie and nine siblings.
