Larry B Brandt Ph.D.'s Obituary
Larry B. Brandt, Ph.D., 71, Leesburg, FL passed away on February 27, 2015 in Leesburg, Florida. Dr. Brandt was born on September 26, 1943 in Princeton, Illinois to his parents Bernhardt and Mildred Brandt. Dr. Brandt was a Retired Professor of Management for Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale and prior to that had helped to open Park Place Suite Hotel in Delray Beach, Florida. He taught at Lynn University in Boca Raton and had been the Food Manager for Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. He and his wife moved to The Villages in 2005 from Davie, FL. He was a member of New Covenant United Methodist Church, The Villages, FL. He was an active participant in the Via De Cristo and Emmaus communities. He had a lifelong passion for music and was a mobile DJ. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years: Mary Brandt of Leesburg, FL; three sons: John Joseph Brandt of Ft. Mill, S.C., Robert Glair of Charlotte, N.C. and Francis Glair of Conway, S.C. ; two daughters: Betsy Syposs of North Tonawanda, N.Y. and Donna Beck of Palm Bay, FL; a brother: Karl Brandt of Arizona; two sisters: Sharon Lubin of Panama and Pastor Karen Berg of Iowa; five grandchildren: Alex and Jake Brandt, Connor and Christina Glair and Jeremy Beck and several loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Sandy Mattheson. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at 3:00PM at New Covenant United Methodist Church, The Villages, Florida. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Alzheimer’s & Dementia Resource Center at 1506 Lake Highland Drive, Orlando, FL 32803 in his loving memory.
