Judith F. Broughton's Obituary
Judith Francine (Willmott) Broughton passed away peacefully on November 24, 2022, at The Buffalo Crossings Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Oxford, Florida.
Judith was born on June 18, 1940, in Brooklyn, New York and grew-up in the Greenpoint Neighborhood.
In 1960, Judy married the love of her life, George, and had two beautiful children- Colonel (R) George Broughton II, MD, PhD, and Francine Broughton.
Judy had to drop out of high school to care for her younger brother but fifteen years later earned her GED. Judy known for “wicked” sense of humor, warm smile, and her motherly love and generosity freely given to anyone who needed it, has an impressive resume as a great stay-at-home mom. She was a resource manager keeping her children well fed, clothed and entertained, a life coach, drill instructor, and chauffeur, a skilled searcher of lost and wayward children, a teacher, bodyguard, bouncer, enforcer, arbitrator and facilitator. Francine was unable to play softball because Warwick did not have a league for girls under 12 years old. Not to be deterred, Judy, with the help from other mothers and reportedly a few clandestine calls to Brooklyn, convinced the town to form one a few months later and coached a team. She is perhaps most revered for her Ninja-like skills wielding shoes and large wooden cutlery, her remarkable speed and her cucumber-sour cream salad.
After Francine was old enough, Judy returned to the work force to a Sears catalog store, as a shipping and delivery manager for Jones Chemical, and a teacher’s aide for kindergarten and grade school children. Her hobbies included creating ceramics and collecting porcelain dolls.
Judith is survived by her son and daughter-in-law George Broughton II and Nicole Borgiet; daughter Francine Broughton and son-in-law Robert; 9 grandchildren Danyka, Adara, George III, Braeden, Aeslyn, Kallen, Syana, Cheyenne, and Sophia; and 6 great grandchildren; and her brother Peter Willmott and his wife Janice. Judith is preceded in death by her husband George Broughton, mother Mary, Father Robert and brother Robert Willmott.
