John Jongens' Obituary
John Jongens, 84 of Lake Placid passed away Thursday, February 16, 2012. Mr. Jongens was born December 15, 1927 in Wormer, North Holland, The Netherlands and moved to Lake Placid in 1983 from Warren, Michigan after his retirement from Ford Motor Company. He had served in the Royal Dutch Army from 1947 – 1950 was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Lake Placid where he was in the choir. He also enjoyed being a handyman and a bicyclist. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Ellen; 2 daughters and their husbands, Janet and Terry Alphonse of Casco, Mi. and Cynthia and James Williams of Brandon; sister, Gre Jongens of Leiden, The Netherlands, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Douwe and Cornelia Jongens. Mr. Jongens life will be celebrated 11:00am, Wednesday, February 22, 2012 in the Memorial United Methodist Church, Lake Placid.
