John Reese Ellis' Obituary
John Reese Ellis (Reese) was born in El Paso, Texas on March 9, 1947. He passed away July 30, 2025. His Parents were John Reese Ellis II and Anne Beckley Ellis. All surviving siblings are Alfred B Ellis and James L Ellis. He is survived by 3 nephews- Troy Ellis, Dan Ellis and John Hollowell; and 4 nieces – Megan Mayes, Sarah Ellis, Jennifer Sanchez and Jessica Cochran as well as numerous cousins. Reese’s sister Jean Anne Hollowell passed on September 12, 2025.
Reese graduated from Austin High School in 1965. He later joined the United States Air Force and served as an air policeman for 4 years. He was employed as a security officer in Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands at a high security clearance location. Reese learned to play gold there and continued to enjoy the game in his retirement. Reese loved playing golf and watching Dallas football games.
An overseas friend told Reese about The Villages, Florida and he decided after visiting, to move there and buy a house. Other family members and close friends moved there also.
Reese never married or had any children. He was always a very independent person. Reese was always there for family, a true Big Brother. There are so many wonderful times he spent with family and friends. We will always remember those times with him.
Our loving brother and uncle will be dearly missed.
There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Service 11:00 am Saturday, October 25, 2025, at New Covenant United Methodist Church "Small Chapel" 3470 Woodridge Dr, The Villages, FL 32162. Followed by a graveside service at 1:00 pm at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery 1901 County Rd 25A, Leesburg, FL 34748. Rev. Ellen Pollock will be officiating.
