John B. Egly Jr's Obituary
John B. Egly, Jr, 94, of Wildwood passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017. Mr. Egly was born June 15, 1922 in Brownsville, TX to John B and Herminia (Oliveira) Egly. He has lived here most of his adult life. John was a Veteran of WWII serving in the Army Air Corp as a tail gunner and had completed 68 missions before he was discharged. He retired from CSX Railroad as a Yard Master. John was a member of the Wildwood United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post 18. He loved fly fishing, working in his yard and being with his grandchildren. Survivors include his daughters, Elizabeth Ann Swanson (Hansdel), Carol Rigdon (Freddie) and Connie Cone (Larry); 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn and sisters, Elmina E. Tolley, Juanita E. Orason and Katie Lee Rivera. Funeral services will be 11:00am, Saturday, April 8, 2017 in the Banks/Page-Theus Chapel. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Wildwood. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in John’s honor to the American Legion Post 18, P.O. Box 1502, Wildwood, FL 34785.
