John R. Eckles' Obituary
John Rex Eckles passed away on December 8th, 2023 in Leesburg, FL after a long illness. John was born in Palo Alto, California, on September 13th, 1951 and spent his formative years in McLean, VA. He was a graduate of Davis and Elkins College in West Virginia and was a Peace Corp member for two years in Samoa. He later taught at-risk high school students in Goleta, California. John loved the ocean, and his favorite place was Daytona Beach. He had a great sense of humor and had a wonderful laugh. He was known for his humorous holiday cards, and loved to surf, cook, fish, garden and put his extensive tool collection to good use. John is survived by his sisters, Karen Eckles Searfoss of Azle, Texas and Kathy Eckles Hooker of Flagstaff, Arizona and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Howard Hal Eckles and Willa Marie Eckles. John’s family and friends will miss him dearly. Online condolences may be shared by visiting www.bankspagetheus.com .
