Joan Pittman Kilgoar's Obituary
Joan Pittman Kilgoar, 82, Ocklawaha, Florida went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 25, 2025 at Chatham Glen Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, The Villages, Florida surrounded by her loving family. Joan was born on March 3, 1943 in Waycross, Georgia to her parents Walter B. Pittman and Bessie Mae (Phillips) Pittman.
Joan was raised in Oxford, Florida later moving to Moss Bluff in the 1960’s. She was a Baptist and attended The Cowboy Church in Moss Bluff, Florida. She was very proud of her Georgia roots and even though she moved to Florida when she was only 3 years old and always considered herself a “Georgia Cracker”.
Joan was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Puc Puggy Chapter, The Villages, Florida, Daughters of the War of 1812, Frances L. Dade Chapter of Orlando, Florida and the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Marion Dragoon’s Chapter, Weirsdale, Florida. She loved people and considered the more the merrier. Joan loved to plan and host dinners and festivals and was a great country cook.
Joan is survived by her loving children: Zenda Kay Hayes and her husband Steven of Weirsdale, Florida and Richard “Choppy” Kilgoar and his wife Sheril of Moss Bluff, Florida; two grandchildren: Houston Hayes and Emily Sleeper and her husband Mike; two great-grandchildren: M.J. and Gentry as well as several loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 42 years, Mack Kilgoar, as well as her brother, 2 sisters, one child , and one grandchild.
A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 11:00AM at Pine Level Cemetery, Oxford, Florida with Pastor Justin Gwin and Pastor Earnest Barry Officiating and the United Daughters of the Confederacy providing funeral honors.
