Jean Marie Tompkins' Obituary
Jean Marie Tompkins, 89, of Wildwood, FL, began her Heavenly journey on March 8, 2026. Jean was born on February 16, 1937, at her family home in Webster, FL, to her dear parents; Claude Franklin and Mattie Belle (Stephenson) O’Neal.
Jean was born and raised in Sumter County, a true Florida native. She was a dedicated employee of Suburban Propane Gas Company as an office manager for many years, and a member of the Eastern Star.
In 1959, Jean married the love of her life, George Hubert Tompkins, together they attended services at Wildwood United Methodist Church for several years until George’s passing in 2008. The two had a loving 49 years together.
Jean was a loving mother to her son, Hubert, and she enjoyed spending time going out to their favorite restaurants together and people watching. Jean was a calming, pleasant, loving mother and friend to many.
Jean is survived by her son; Charles Hubert Tompkins and a brother, Robert Kay O’Neal.
Jean is preceded in passing by her husband; George H. Tompkins, her parents, Claude Franklin and Mattie Belle O'Neal, and her siblings; Estelle Claudette O’Neal Wall, Cleveland Monroe O’Neal Sr., Clinton Claudy O’Neal, Marjorie E. “Margie” O’Neal East, Merrilyn O'Neal Mehr, Henderson George O’Neal, Virginia Belle O’Neal Prevatt and Walter Marshall “Buddy” O’Neal.
