I met Jack while we were both working at GTE in Bluefield West Virginia in the mid-1970's. He was always upbeat and had a great smile and a helpful spirit. During our tour in West Virginia, I arranged to have a photo of Jack and then candidate Ronald Reagan taken...Jack was always the consummate politician! Because of Jack's advocacy and encouragement I got into Public Affairs in GTE and enjoyed a 30 year career, retiring as VP-Public Affairs for Verizon in NC. I called him up a year or two ago to thank him for his great encouragement and mentorship..a call I'm so glad I made. His memory brings a smile to my face...while in Bluefield, he taught me the true definition of a '5 block woman', that there are no 'retired' marines and fine scotch is a food group. During our association and friendship, he taught me much more important lessons about integrity, honor, duty and service. He loved his family dearly and spoke of them often....and will be sorely missed. I for one am much better off for having had Jack in my life! Thanks Cap'n!
