Howard Edward Glitt's Obituary
Howard E. Glitt passed away on Saturday, February 6, at home, with his spouse, Pat, at his side. Howard was born in Circleville, Ohio on November 15, 1926 to Ida Mae (Arldge) and Franklin Henry Glitt. Howard served in the US Army WWII restorative effort, in Germany and France. He met his wife, Helene (1923-2005) while assigned to Paris and joined the US Army Band. In addition to his Printing Engineer career with NCR, Dayton Ohio, Howard’s lifelong avocation was music. Blessed with incredible talent, Howard happily played his Tenor Sax, Trumpet, Trombone or Clarinet at every opportunity. A Villager since 2005, Howard joined the French Club, Jazz Lovers Club, and Bands of The Villages. He played Tenor Sax in Villages Swing Band, Ocala Center Stage Band, and Leesburg M&M Band, Trombone in Red Garter Jazz Band, and Clarinet in Jazz, Etc. Trio in The Villages Hospital Lobbies. Howard found love, again, and in 2007 he and Pat Kronk exchanged their vows and settled in their home in Village of Amelia.
Howard is survived by his daughter, Josiane Chakeres (Michael), two Grandsons, Todd (Julie) and Chris ( Susan), six Grandchildren, five Great-Grandchildren, and Pat’s two children, Mark and Cheryl (Eric) and two Grandchildren.
Howard’s Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 10:00 A.M., in the Christian Life Center at New Covenant United Methodist Church, 3470 Woodridge Dr., The Villages. Following the service, a burial will take place with U.S. Army Honors at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Online condolences may be shared by visiting www.bankspagetheus.com.
