Hans Kalakapua Jensen's Obituary
HANS KALAKAPUA JENSEN June 10, 1939 – January 6, 2021 (81 years)
BELOVED HUSBAND OF LYN JENSEN, married 53 adventuresome years
Hans was a surfer and he enjoyed the waves. When he would wipe out, he would always come up. On Hans’ 16 year journey with Alzheimer’s, he rode many waves, up and down. On January 6th, he rode his last wave and now Hans’ soul is in Heaven with Jesus.
Hans is one of 6 children and he has 19 nieces and nephews, and two hanai brothers, Junior and John. Hans grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii and is of Hawaiian, French, Danish and Irish heritage. Hans can be summarized by the following: Faith, Family, and Fun…and a Fabulous Laugh. Hans joined the Air Force after finishing high school. After graduating from University of Hawaii he joined IBM in Hawaii. As a result of his travel adventures while in Europe with the Air Force, he left IBM and joined Hawaiian Airlines and later Northwest/Delta. In addition Hans participated in 5 international work vacations with Habitat for Humanity International. He volunteered at the Redwood City California Habitat for Humanity for many years. He also served Habitat for Humanity international on work/travel trips around the world with friends and with a nephew and great nephew in Bolivia. Hans was an Elder (First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu) and a Deacon (First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley). Hans loved sports both as a spectator and participant. The celebration of life was held on Zoom on, January 13, 2021. Hans' ashes will be scattered at sea in Hawaii and interned at Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed by a memorial to the Alzheimer’s Family Organization (461 Mariner Blvd, Spring Hill, FL 34609) or the North Lake Presbyterian Church, Little Blessings (975 Rolling Acres Rd, Lady Lake, FL, 32159). Banks/Page Theus is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
