Weidner, Hal Eugene's Obituary
Hal Eugene Weidner, 87 of The Villages, FL passed away Saturday, November 2, 2024. He was born January 31, 1937. In Montpelier, Ohio to Philip Monroe and Ruth Maxine Weidner.
Hal worked for General Motors Corporation as an Aeronautical Engineer helping with the guidance systems for the Apollo space program for 10 years. Hal then went to work for the U.S. Army as a civilian engineer with the small arms division from 1970 to 1996.
Hal received his Engineering degree from Indiana Tech and received his master’s degree from the University of Iowa. Hal also taught religious education in Iowa. After retirement Hal and Margaret “Peggy” Weidner his wife, were married in 1960. He and Peggy moved to Florida in 2008 from Davenport, Iowa. He was of the Catholic Faith and was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Wildwood, Florida. Hal enjoyed his time in The Villages, playing Pickle ball, billiards, golf and table tennis. He loved being surrounded by his grandchildren.
Hal is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Margaret “Peggy” Weidner; sons: Mark, Craig, Joel, and Neal (Michel) Weidner; brother, Gene Weidner; 6 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and many other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandson, Steven Weidner.
There will be a Mass of Resurrection at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 23, 2024, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church 5323 E County Rd 462, Wildwood, FL 34785. Followed by a graveside service at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens 1901 County Rd 25A, Leesburg, FL 34748.
