Gloria Anne Waite's Obituary
Gloria Waite, age 80, passed peacefully from this life Wednesday, December 14, 2016, and went home to be with the Lord. Her husband, Lee; her son, Lance; and her daughter, Susan were at her bedside.
Gloria was born in Oklahoma City, OK on September 4, 1936 to Ruth and Carey Hughens (deceased). She graduated from Northeast High School in Oklahoma City and attended the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK.
She met and married Captain Leland K Waite, an Air Force Pilot at Clinton Sherman AFB, OK on June 28, 1963.
They retired in southern California after a very successful Air Force career. They moved into their new Villages home in August 2001.
Gloria became enamored with “Red Hats” and founded the Shorewood Sweeties. This group of Glenbrook women found much to enjoy in their adventures and get togethers.
Gloria is survived by her husband, Lee (53 yrs); her son, Lance K Waite and his wife Christel of Virginia Beach, VA; her daughter, Susan L. Waite of Tulsa, OK; granddaughter; Jessica and her husband David Hubbard of Tulsa, OK; granddaughters Sarah and Julia Waite of Virginia Beach, VA, both attending Oral Roberts University, OK; Grandson, Luke Waite, a recent graduate of Oral Roberts University, OK; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Hank and Penney Surbeck of Gig Harbor, WA; brother-in-law, Thomas R. Waite of Tacoma, WA; and Great Granddaughter, Jubilee Hubbard of Tulsa, OK.
A Celebration of Life service in Gloria’s honor will be held at the Grace Tabernacle Church, 7279 E. County Road 468, Wildwood, Florida, 34785 on January 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM.
