Glenna R. Shelp's Obituary
Glenna (Turner) Shelp went home to be with the Lord on July 1, 2019. Glenna was 91 having been born January 25, 1928 in Presque Isle, Maine. She was the daughter of Glenwood and June Turner of Skowhegan, Maine.
Glenna gave her heart and life to her Lord Jesus as a young teen and never wavered from her faith and the grace of God.
Glenna married her former pastor, Pastor Donald Shelp on October 10, 1992. She is survived by her husband, her sister, Marilyn Rich of Madison, ME, her brothers, Louis Turner of Skowhegan, ME, Wayne (Peggy) Turner of Taylors, SC and Richard (Carol) Turner of Canaon, ME.
She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Charline Soucier of Skowhegan, ME and Maxine Gower of Clinton, ME and a brother, Glenwood Turner, Jr of Skowhegan, ME. In addition, she leaves many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Glenna was a hard worker for all her adult life. She worked in shoe shops until she retired in 1992.
For over forty years, she served in the Skowhegan Church of the Nazarene, especially with boys and girls in Children’s Church. She also served for a period as Sunday Superintendent.
She had a unique low voice and early on sang in trio and for many years sang solos especially in the Skowhegan Church. For several years, she cared for her mother.
The past twenty-six years, she was a member of the Leesburg, FL Church of the Nazarene, where her husband served as the Associate Pastor for over fifteen years. She shared his ministry.
Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Friday, July 5, 2019 in the Leesburg Church of the Nazarene with visitation prior to the service, from 10:00am – 11:00am. Pastor Greg Brown will conduct the service.
Glenna will be transferred to Skowhegan, Maine where arrangements will be made for a service and interment.
