Glen A. Perkins, 80, of Wildwood, FL passed away peacefully on July 24 at home. Glen was born on February 13, 1941 to Calvin and Loella Perkins in Britt Iowa where he was raised. He then attended Colorado State University on a Wre Read Obituary
Well old friend, I will miss you greatly.. to me you are the epitome of courage. Nothing could stand in your way. You paid your gift back multifold by helping others with that debilitating disease. Yes Glen you were a hero and mentor to so many. May Margaret, your children and grandchildren take comfort in how you lived your life. Goodbye old friend
Although he will be greatly missed. I don't feel depressed but enlightened by what my Uncle Glen did. With the extra years he was granted after his successful transplant. From the readings from his posted memories he was a role model and advocate for many that were going through a very difficult time in there life. Thank you. I would also like to add he was a gentle giant of a man. At family get togethers he loved to poke fun and tease. Miss you but also grateful.

Glen was one of my favorite patients and also a good friend. He helped so many other families with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency get the right treatment and live long and happy lives through his personal support and his work as a support group leader. He proved all the Denver liver docs wrong when they told him he wouldn’t survive a liver transplant by getting his transplant elsewhere and living 20 years with his new liver! Always a force of nature and a wonderful person. He will be greatly missed.

Glen has given so much of his time, his knowledge and his heart to so many in the Alpha-1 Community. He has served in numerous volunteer roles-support group leader, peer guide, focus group-always willing to help. And all the while, Margaret was by his side equally helping others. Margaret, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
My wife Kathy and I had the honor of getting to know Glen after he is wonderful son Tiny came into our lives and married our daughter Christy. He and Margaret are the sweetest people imaginable.
Glen always had a smile and a pleasant word for everyone. We will miss him.
