Gerald "Gerry" E. Dye, 81, of The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. He was born on Friday, May 22, 1942, in Sheffield, AL, to the late Hilton L. and Selma M. (nee Townsend) Dye. He was preceded in Read Obituary
I met Gerry late in his life at one of the Villages fitness centers. We became friends and golfed together. Gerry was such a sweet, kind, gentle man. I traded him about how fast he drove his golf cart. He would laugh so hard when I did so. I wish I had known him longer.
Dear Pat and Family, Our deepest sympathy at the loss of Gerry. We knew him from attending church and sitting together for a long time. A very nice man that will be missed yet suffered greatly these past couple years. He is now at peace.
Gerry was a good friend and an all-around good guy. We are poorer for his passing.
Jack & Helen Barrett: Helen and I were proud to be friends and colleagues of Gerry's during our government careers. Jack especially was fortunate to have followed Gerry's career path very closely, directly succeeding him several times in positions where Gerry set a standard of professionalism and established a record of accomplishments that brought great credit to our Agency and truly made a difference in support of U.S. national security interests. More than anything, though, Gerry was a consummate gentleman, an exceptional mentor, and a shining example of the best in service to our country. God Bless our friend.

Gerry was a wonderful friend to my husband and me. He was very intelligent and I loved chatting with him about a variety of subjects. He played golf with us every Sunday for many years. He is dearly missed.
