George Alton Price's Obituary
George Alton Price, 79, of Mt. Dora passed away, Thursday, August 9, 2012. Mr. Price was born December 13, 1932 in Jacksonville. After graduating from high school he served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he then served as a State Trooper in several areas throughout Florida, settling into Lake County in 1985. He not only retired from the Highway Patrol, but also as an Orange County Deputy Sherriff. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was a Mason and belonged to the Bahia Shrine Temple. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing, reading and dove hunting. Survivors include his loving wife of almost 50 years, Martha; daughters, Layle Padgett of Grand Island and Renee’ Price of Jacksonville; stepdaughter, Karen Boone of Wildwood; stepson Lance Watkins of Bushnell; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Larry. Funeral services for Mr. Price will be held 11:00am, Tuesday, August 14, 2012 in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Leesburg. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church and interment will follow the service in Greenwood Cemetery, Wildwood.
