I served under Capt Duca while we were both stationed at Coast Guard Headquarters. He filled a room--he was bigger than life. He had a bigger vocabulary, a wider store of knowledge a deeper understanding of what motivated people, a lower tolerance for idiots, and a greater desire to do the right thing regardless of cost. He adored Barbara and was proud of his family. I gained a great store of "Duca-isms" that pop into a conversation. As I stand with friendly smile and a respectful salute, I think "Thank you ,. .well done, And I hope we meet again at a future duty station" Ken Hollemon CAPT/USCG (Ret)

Dear Barbara,
I have just read in the Press about Steve’s passing. Its very sad news and I am very sorry for you and your children. Now is a difficult time and adjustment but it sounds like you have a lot of family which can be very comforting and supportive. They will help you remember the happy times..
