Gene John Corini's Obituary
Gene “Geno” John Corini, 65, of The Villages, passed away June 19, 2020 from complications of Early Onset Alzheimer’s Disease. Gene was born on August 25, 1954 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Louis John and Elsie A. (Simini) Corini. In 2012 Geno married Mary Loeffler Gillman in St. Augustine, Florida.
Gene proudly served his country as a Commander in the United States Navy for 20 years. He commanded Lockheed P-3 Orion patrol planes scouting for Soviet submarines, during the cold war, from Keflavik, Iceland; Kinloss, Scotland; St. Mawgan, England; and Lajes, Azores, and later out of Jacksonville, Florida. He served during the Gulf War. Gene then became a project manager in the I.T. departments of national companies specializing in data for background checks. Geno was a member of “Wings of Gold” of The Villages (retired naval aviators), enjoyed playing billiards with neighbors, spent time working out at The Villages gyms and keeping fit. He loved riding his bike, kayaking and spending a lot of time at St. Augustine beach. He adopted his faithful dog, Maggie, a black lab mix in
2007. They enjoyed playing Frisbee and walking for many years. Maggie is now 14 ½ and misses Geno terribly.
Gene is survived by his wife Mary; his son Christopher Corini, daughter in law Erica and granddaughter Sophia of North Carolina; brother Bruce Corini and sister in law Robin of New Jersey, nephews Alex (Godchild), Cameron and niece Hayley; in 2012, step-son Jimmy Gillman, step-grandchildren Johanna and Juliana of Orlando; step-daughter Andrea Gillman of Tampa.
