Garfield Jones' Obituary
Garfield Jones Jr., 83, of Lake Panasoffkee passed away Friday, February 6, 2009. He was born in Scranton, Pa and lived most of his life in New York, He served in the United States Marine Corps. During WWII (1942-1945) and the Korean Conflict (1950-1951). He was Past Master of William F. Farmer Lodge 1109 F&AM, Past Monarch of the Keder Khan Grotto, Past President of the Empire State Grotto Association, and a life member of the Lake Side Fire Dept. He was also a member of the American Legion, The United States Marine Corps League, Past Commander of the AMVETS, and a life member of the VFW. He was a member of several bands, including: The Salvation Army Band, Syracuse, NY, the Valley Legion Band, Smitty's Sunoco Band, Mexico, NY, The Citrus Community Band, Orlando, The Lake Sentinel Community Concert Band, Fla, played "Taps" with the Sumter Volunteer Honor Guard, At Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fl. The Liverpool American Legion Band, Liverpool, NY, The Keder Kahan Grotto Band, Syracuse, NY, The Police & Firemans Band, Liverpool, NY, The Fulton Community Band, Fulton, NY. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 yrs. Lillian L. Jones, brother's David R. Jones, Joseph Jones and Alfred Jones. He is survived by daughters Carol (Will) Jones, Ransomville N.Y. Charlotte (Jack) Coulter, Hannibal, N.Y., son John (Mary) Jones Bremmertom, WA. 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren, sister Doris Thomas, PA. brother Thomas Jones, Balwinsville. N.Y. Friends may call on the family from 2:00 PM to 4:00Pm and 7:00PM to 9:00pm Tuesday February 10, 2009 at the Banks/Page-Theus Funeral Home in Wildwood, Fl where Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday February 11, 2009 at 10:00 AM, Pastor Don Hickey, Salvation Army Leesburg officiating. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fl. Family requests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army 2105 W.
