Frederick B. "Mac" McCurry's Obituary
Frederick B. “Mac” McCurry, 92, of Summerfield passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017. Mac was born June 16, 1925 in Erwin, TN to Russell Conway and Hattie (Whitson) McCurry. He was a U.S. Navy, WWII Veteran serving on the USS Reno. Mac had retired from many careers some of which included the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad and proprietor of a Budget Car franchise both in Maryland, proprietor of Mac’s Gulf Station and manager of the service department at TBT Motors both in Wildwood. Mac was well known in his later years for mowing and maintaining many properties and was on his beloved mower last month. He moved here in 1984 from Linthicum, MD. Mac was a member of the Wildwood United Methodist Church, 60-year member and Past Master of the Wildwood Masonic Lodge #92, Past Patron of the Wildwood Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 24, Boumi Shrine Temple in Baltimore, American Legion Post 18 in Wildwood, Loyal Order of the Moose Post 1004 in Belleview, NARVE in Wildwood along with many other organizations. Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Sharon; children, Thomas Fredrick McCurry of Johnson City, TN, Brenda Faye Lawhorn (Michael) of Clermont, Kelly J. Garst (James) of Stevensville, MD and David R. Haight (Patricia) of Queen Anne, MD; sister, Fern Lavender (Jack); 8 grandchildren, Belynda, Michael, Sarah, Brian, Tyler, Autumn, Tasha and Amber; 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Deenah McCurry and 2 sisters, Ruth Laws and Faye Conley. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00pm, Monday, October 9, 2017 with Masonic Rites conferred at 6:30pm in the funeral home. Funeral services will be 12:30pm, Tuesday, October 10, 2017 in the Banks/Page-Theus Chapel with interment at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
