Frank C. Strickland, Jr.,'s Obituary
Frank C. Strickland, Jr., 90, of Wildwood, passed away Friday, November 18, 2011. Mr. Strickland was born in High Springs April 10, 1921 and moved to Wildwood in 1927 from Waldo. After serving in the U.S. Army during WWII, Frank worked on the Railroad retiring from Seaboard Coastline as an Engineer then he served as a City of Wildwood Commissioner for 19 years and worked for several years as a staff associate for Banks/Page-Theus Funeral Home. While serving as a commissioner, Frank had served on the Florida League of Cities and spearheaded the Heart of Florida Group. He was a member of the Wildwood United Methodist Church wherein the past he had served as an Usher, on the I-Team, was the Chairman of Finance Committee and Chairman of the Trustees. He also belonged to the Wildwood Masonic Lodge, #92, F&AM, a lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW in Wildwood. Survivors include his 4 sons, Frank Cellon (Brenda) Strickland, III of Ocala, James David (Kyong) Strickland of Savannah, Ga., Timothy Joe (Barbara) Strickland of Springfield, Ga. and Mark Douglas Strickland of Mt. Dora, along with 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Frank was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen K. Strickland. Visitation for Mr. Strickland will be Tuesday, November 29, 2011 from 6 PM ~ 8PM in the Banks/Page Theus Chapel . Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 10:00 Wildwood United Methodist Church with interment following in the Barnes Cemetery, Ocala.
