Erva L Lynch's Obituary
Lynch, Erva L., of Summerfield, FL and formerly of North Chelmsford & Saugus, MA, passed away on July 12, 2015 following a brief illness. Erva was born on June 8, 1905 in Brockton, MA to William & Mabel (MacLean) LaMere. Erva recently celebrated her 110th birthday on June 8th at the Spruce Creek South Community Center, Summerfield, FL with family and friends.
Erva married Arthur F. Lynch, Sr., on August 30, 1935 and they made their home in Saugus, MA where they raised their three children Arthur, Jr. (Maryanne DePaola), Robert (Jackie Bourassa) and Carol (Rob Robertson). Erva was predeceased by her husband of 31 years, Arthur, Sr., both her sons Arthur, Jr., and Robert, and 2 grandchildren, Lorraine Lynch and Michael Lynch.
She resided with her daughter Carol and son in law Rob for the last 38 years, first in Chelmsford, MA for 28 years and then in Summerfield, FL moving when she was 101 years young.
Erva is survived by her daughter Carol and her husband Rob, 14 grandchildren Pamela Brown of Everett, MA, Tracy Redden of Lynn, MA & Laura Smith of Saugus, MA, Joseph Lynch of MO, Jimmy Lynch of ME and Kelly Lynch of CA, Matthew Robertson & Kimberly Fielding of Chelmsford, MA, Kristin Benoit of Lowell, MA and John Robertson of Dracut, MA,, 19 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
In her younger years, Erva worked for Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator and Almy's Department Store as a clerk in the fabric department.
Some interesting facts about Erva's life are: she was born the year Albert Einstein published his paper about the Theory of Relativity; she was six when the Titanic sank; she was nine when WWI began; and twenty-four when Wall Street crashed in 1929. She never went to the doctors other than to have her children until she was seventy.
A Memorial mass will be held 11:00AM, Saturday, August 1, 2015 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 115 Middlesex St., N. Chelmsford, MA. Inurnment will be on August 3rd in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lynn, MA.
