Edna Mae Caruthers' Obituary
Edna Mae Caruthers, 97, of Oxford, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Mrs. Caruthers was born September 10, 1917 in Oxford to the late Robert Nichols and Della (Proctor) Baker. She was a lifelong resident of Oxford. She was a retired secretary from the Sumter County School Board and enjoyed sewing for her family, making many of their clothes. Survivors include her sons, Clark Caruthers (Lois) and Tim Caruthers ; daughter, Betty Shealy (George); grandchildren, Chris Caruthers (Lisa), Shelly Crenshaw (Reggie), Danny Caruthers, Julie Avera, Kimberly Vann and Melanie Hurst (Ken); 15 Great Grandchildren; 15 Great-Great Grandchildren and Several Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy H. Caruthers; brother, Allen Baker; sister and brother-in-law; Dorothy and Thomas Jones. Visitation and services for Mrs. Caruthers will be held in the Immanuel Baptist Church, Oxford, Monday, February 2, 2015 with the visitation beginning at 12:00 noon and the service beginning at 2:00pm. Interment will follow the service in the Nichols Cemetery, Oxford. If desired memorial contributions may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 649, Oxford, FL 34484-0649.
