Edgar Gene Cote's Obituary
E. Gene Cote, 83, of The Villages, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2015. Mr. Cote was born July 22, 1932 in Plaistow, NH to J. Oscar and Jeanette M. (LeFevre) Cote. Gene had served as a reservist for the U.S. Navy. He graduated with a masters and had worked toward a doctorate from Northeastern University. He was a retired electronic engineer and manager for Avco Systems Textron and had also retired as a school administrator for numerous school districts in NH. Gene had served on many boards and with many organizations including Treasurer for Avco MA Federal Credit Union, Timberlane Regional School Board, President of NH School Board Association and Governor of NH Lion’s. He was the recipient of the Melvin Jones Award for dedicated humanitarian services from International Lion’s Club. In his spare time, Gene enjoyed reading, bridge, golfing and gardening. He became a master gardener in NH. Gene moved here in 2004 from Northfield, NH. He was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, Summerfield, FL. The last several months were spent in his home and he died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years, Donna; children, Andrea Cote of Irving, TX, Leanne Settlemires of Clermont, FL , Michael Cote of Manchester, NH, Peter Cote (Karin) of Ellsworth, NH, Chris Zeras (Susan) of Maitland, FL, Peter Todd Zeras of New York City, NY; sister, Delores Minas of Sun City, AZ; grandchildren, Ashlee, Jeffery, Jennifer, Nicole, Joey, Chris, Sadie and Lily Grace along with many great-grandchildren. Gene was preceded in death by his siblings, Gerard Cote, Pat Volinio and George Cote. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10am, Tuesday, August 11, 2015 in St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church Chapel, Summerfield.
