Donald George Maehlenbrock, 92, of Leesburg, FL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2025. Born on August 12, 1932, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, he was the son of Walter Maehlenbrock and Ida (Wilhelmy) Brideau.
A proud veteran, Donald honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. His dedication to service extended far beyond the military, shaping a life marked by commitment to community, leadership, and brotherhood.
Donald was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 27 years, Kathleen (Sheehan) Maehlenbrock; his brother, Louis Maehlenbrock; and his stepson, John Lanzer.
He is survived by his son, Kurt Alex Maehlenbrock and his partner AL; daughters, Donna Nevins and Beth (Duane) Marsan; brother, James (Jeanne) Brideau; stepsons, Frank (Barbara) Lanzer and Kevin Lanzer. He was a cherished grandfather to Jaime (Michael) Cormier, Ed (Jenniffer) Nevins, Jessica Mariee, Nick (Jenn) Marsan, Justin (Meg) Marsan, and Brandon (Carolina) Marsan; great-grandfather to nine; and great-great-grandfather to one.
Donald’s professional and fraternal affiliations were extensive and deeply meaningful. He was a retired firefighter from Bridgeport, CT, and served as a Fire Commissioner for the City of Milford. He also held roles as Maintenance Supervisor for the State of Connecticut and Deputy Sheriff in New Haven County.

Donald participated in The Villages Honor Flight Network, a testament to his enduring patriotism.
Donald will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to service, his love for family, and his deep-rooted values. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those he touched.
There will be a celebration of life memorial service 10:00 am Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Banks/Page-Theus Funeral Home 410 Webster St. Wildwood, FL 34785 with Rev. Craig Attaway Officiating. Masonic Rites will be conducted by Wildwood Masonic Lodge No. 92 F.&A.M.
There will be a graveside service 12:30 pm September 3, 2025, at FL National Cemetery with U.S. Army Honor Guard and Marion County Honor Guard assisting.
