McCormic, Daniel C.'s Obituary
Daniel C McCormic, 85 of Lake Panasoffkee, Florida, passed away peacefully due to complications of Parkinson's Disease on December 8, 2025, with his loving family by his side. Dan was born January 18,1940 and was a proud Florida Native. After graduating from Stetson Law School in 1965, he returned to Sumter County with his wife, Noella, where they raised their family. Dan was a proud and devoted member of the Sumter County community.
He was the last sitting City Judge of Wildwood before the position was moved to the County Seat in Bushnell. He later served for many years as Wildwood City Attorney. In addition to practicing law, Dan was also a real estate broker and developer. A man with a strong civic spirit, Dan was a proud Rotarian, receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award for his Rotary Service and being named a Paul Harris Fellow multiple times. He was a Member of Masonic Lodge #92 in Wildwood for 60 Years and a dedicated member of the Sumter County Development Council, where he served as President for 14 years.
In recent years he very much enjoyed his involvement in The Scenic Sumter Heritage Byway Organization. Over the years Dan and Noella shared a unique passion for raising exoctic birds, selling them across the United States, including Disney and Busch Gardens. They eventually retired to Lake Panasoffkee, spending their final years along The Withlacoochee River.
Dan was preceded in Death by his loving wife of 51 years, Noella; his father, J.C. McCormic; his mother, Claudie B. Denson; his brothers, Jay and Patrick Denson; and his sister, Alzada Tucker. He is survived by his son, Joe McCormic; daughter Julia (Jody) Markley; grandchildren, Lee Wigglesworth, Bradley McCormic, Cara McCormic, and Jacob McCormc; great-grandson, Beckett McCormic; and several Nieces and Nephews.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025 from 5:00 to 6:00PM, with a service beginning at 6:00PM, at Banks, Page-Theus Funeral Home, Wildwood, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Wildwood Rotary Club in Dan's loving memory.
