Since Danny's passing I have struggled with a bad choice that I had made of not saying goodbye to a great friend. I spoke with him once after he had sold his home but could not bring myself to speak with him again knowing he would soon be gone. My sister Donna introduced me to him through a host of others in the early seventies as I soon fell in love with his gregarious manner and straight up fun loving personality. We were both trivia buffs and I now realize I have no one to compare notes with on his level. He was my go to guy for baseball and I was his go to guy for music. Danaki introduced me to many great people and I think of him quite often. We shared many memories together, especially a road trip to Florida in my Grand Prix where we spent two weeks at one of my relatives home. Listening to Meatloaf's Bat Out Of Hell over and over on the way down, we had the blast of our lives playing pinball, going to the beach and hanging out in all the clubs. He loved his cigarettes and accepted his illness as was the case with his Dad. He had amazing strength and courage. I visited him frequently while he was still in Centereach and thoroughly enjoyed his company. I had rewritten the lyrics to the Sugarhill Gang's Rappers Delight and included him in the lyrics with all the members of our gang. I sang the song live at his first engagement party and he never forgot the lyrics. He kept a copy and always looked up to me and made me feel special. He was so good to his family and friends, his ailing wife, his tenant and was a genuine good soul. I wish I could tell him right now how special in fact he was to me and how much I miss him.
