Thank you for sharing all the memories you had with grandpa. He truly was the best man I ever knew. He was more like a father than a grandfather and he will be missed everyday. He loved his family so much, he thought about his 11 brothers and sisters everyday and their families.He had many friends that are missing him and remember the funny times they had shared. Aunt Wanda, Theresa, and Dawn:I'm sorry to hear of Dana's passing. I am happy that the suffering has ended for him and that he was peaceful in the end. Uncle Dana was tough and kind. Although it sounds like an oxymoron, it is,in fact, true. He was quick to let you know when he thought you were wrong, as he argued his position on more than one occasion, but also, eager to generously lend a hand when he thought you needed it. I will always have fond memories of staying with Uncle Dana and Aunt Wanda when I was preparing for the RN boards, and again when waiting to catch a cruise for my honeymoon. Decades later, looking back on those momentous moments, I am happy to have shared them with him; I can still remember how proud he was of those avocados! The legacy that follows Uncle Dana is one of many good times, and no doubt some bad, as it is with us all. My arms wrap around my extended family, offering big hugs and encouragement, as you move forward. I had the honor to speak, for my immediate family, whom couldn't attend the funeral service. I was proud to speak of Dana as a good uncle, father, brother...he seemed to be a proud McKinney! Proud of his family; a wife that cherished him, children who adored him as a family man, who knew how to provide for them, a brother who took charge at the family reunion, after the death of my grandmother, Betty. Dana was a uncle who would always greet you with a hug & kiss, was always happy to see me! Uncle Dana...I will miss your great stories about your life & your ability to make me smile!. Dana was my older brother who I loved dearly.I visited Dana and Wanda when I could and always enjoyed the visits.Sometimes Dana and I would get into some heated discussions as we both knew we were right about the topic at hand.Dana was one who could debate the origin of a fence post for a good 30 minutes and I would hang right in there with him.Neither of us ever won but we never got mad at each other.I know his family will miss him dearly as will I,they lost their leader and I lost my older brother.May he rest in peace and his family remember him as I will on my last visit.He was happy to see my Sister Edith and me and we talked and laughed for quite some time.I want to remember him as I last saw him "My older Brother".##imported-begin##Millard McKinney##imported-end##

We are so very sorry for your loss. I have such good memories of Uncle Dana and I know that he will be greatly missed. I fondly remember the fruits and veggies growing in the back yard, in Hollywood, when we visited. I also remember that Dana was funny and cheerful, even joked a bit. I am truly thankful to have enjoyed the visits we had with your entire family and Uncle Dana. I pray for you all during this time. God be with each of you and bless you. Although I have not been in touch with Uncle Dana in many years, I do have very fond rememberances of him. I remember eating my first kumquat in his yard in Hollywood Florida. I remember riding in an airboat in the everglades. He was a very strong man, with a very good natured outlook. I remember Uncle Dana as a great all around man - one who left humble beginnings in Stirrat WV and made good as most of the "McKinney Boys" of Cow Creek did. Served in the Military, made a good life and living.
