Claritha Jones' Obituary
Claritha Jones graced this world with her presence on May 23, 1927, in Bradley Junction, FL to the late Charlie Jones and Bernice Gant. Her family moved to Avon Park, FL when she was very young. Claritha was a participant of the segregated Avon Park School system until she graduated high school. After graduation she found employment as a Nanny in Avon Park. While working in this capacity she me, fell in love and married William Bailey, Sr. in 1947. They built and created a business. During this time their union was blessed with two children. She was involved in many organizations in Avon Park including being Secretary for the Elks. She managed this business for several decades until she retired in 2009. Claritha moved to Davenport, FL where she met many wonderful people that became friends and participated in different activities. She is predeceased by her daughters Gloria Bailey-Carter and Ireatha Bailey-Hobbs. To mourn her going home she leaves her son William Bailey, Jr. (Linda), two daughters Ludell Bailey and Evelyn Bailey-Banks, her grandchildren, Regina White, Darrin Bailey, Tangi Bailey, Brandi Bailey, Valerie Carter-Brown, Sheretta Sharif, Martha Daughtry (Timothy), Wayne Stephens, Keisha Banks and Tai Kora Banks. A host of great grandchildren and a host of great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jones will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 3, 2014 in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Avon Park with interment following in Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park.
