Charles Edwin Burgis,71, Wildwood, Florida passed away on January 27, 2026 at Cypress Care Center in Wildwood, Florida with his loving wife by his bedside. Charles was born on June 27, 1954 in St. Augustine, Florida to his parents Floyd Andrew Burgis, Sr. and Ruby Lee (Lewis) Burgis.
Charles had been employed with General Dynamics, Electric Boat Division where he worked as a steel grinder on ships being built. He and his loving wife Sandra have lived in Wildwood for 3 years and were residents of New London, Connecticut. He was of The Seventh Day Adventist faith. Charles enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters and family.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 46 years: Sandra Burgis of Wildwood, FL; two sons: Andrew Burgis of Groton, CT and Charles Burgis, II and his wife Cheria of Atlantic City, NJ; daughter: Dorothy Burgis of Orlando, FL; a brother: Floyd Burgis, Jr. of Lexington, SC; Shirlee Israel of Voluntown, CT and Ruby Burgis of Lexington, SC; three loving granddaughters: Cherys, Chaily and DeAundra, and a host of other loving family members.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life Memorial Service in Connecticut on his birthday in loving remembrance.
