Catherine Craig Stahl's Obituary
Catherine Jane Craig Stahl, age 91 died peacefully Thurs., Aug. 17, 2017. She was living with her son and his wife in Wildwood, FL., where they were caring for her. She passed into the quiet beyond of natural causes. Born May 8, 1926 in Madison, Wisconsin. Her Scotch ancestors migrated in 1844, to Rock Prairie, WI.
She grew up in Janesville, Wisconsin where she graduated Janesville High School in 1944. In her Senior year, she was class president, Homecoming Queen and Badger Beauty Junior WI. Also, furthered her education at The University of Wisconsin. In 1948 received her B.S. degree in Home Economics. Alumni member of her sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma. Worked at Foleys Department Store as Interior Decorator in Houston, Texas.
Married Henry Bruce Stahl, July 2, 1955 at the Craig family home in Janesville, WI. Her husband was a corporate executive of Union Carbide. They lived in Switzerland, then finally settled in Miami, FL., where he became owner of his own business in Industrial Gases, Miami Welding Supply, Inc.
Catherine was an active member of Old Cutler Presbyterian, her church in Miami, FL. Also, very active senior member of GOP. Loved to travel. She never met a stranger. She was one of kind- an amazing student of God’s word and full of His joy.
Surviving are: sister, Miss Marion McLay Craig, son Robert Bruce Stahl and his wife Victoria Lee Stahl Wildwood, FL., 2 grandsons: Kristopher Robert Stahl (wife Jessica) Fruitland Park, FL., and Sean Michael Stahl (wife Laura) Lady Lake, FL., 7 great-grandchildren: LaJon Gayle Stahl, Nathan Lee Stahl, Mason Bruce Stahl, Ashlyn Rose Stahl and Owen Matthew Stahl, Devan Elizabeth Stahl, Brynn Amelia Stahl.
1 niece: Carolyn Craig Ruddy (husband Roane), 2 nephews: David Marshall Craig, M.D. (wife Valerie) and Charles McLay Craig (wife Elizabeth), 4 great nephews: Andrew Marshall Craig, Matthew Stewart Craig and Lucas McLay Craig, Ian Grogan Craig. Refined and exquisite sister-in-law Yvonne Moore.
Preceded in death by her father Walter Scott Craig, mother Isabel Zuill Craig (nee McLay), brother Gordon Albert Craig, husband Henry Bruce Stahl and daughter Nancy Elizabeth Stahl.
Services will be held Tues., Aug. 29, 2017 at BANKS PAGE-THEUS in Wildwood, FL., at 7:00 pm. Viewing 5:00-7:00pm. Pastor Derrel Strickland from Oxford Assembly of God, FL., will preside. Graveside services will be held Thurs., Sept. 14,2017 in Janesville, WI., Johnstown Center Cemetery at 1:00pm. Pastor Jamie Swanson of ROCK PRAIRIE UNITED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, will preside. Reception to follow at Rock Prairie Church. Memorials may be made to the ROCK PRAIRIE UNITED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH Building Fund in her name. 8605 East County Road A Janesville, WI. 53546
