Carol Anne Applegate's Obituary
Carol Anne Applegate, 83, passed away on December 7, 2024 at Cornerstone Hospice, Tavares Hospice House, Tavares, Florida surrounded by her loving sons and staff of Cornerstone Hospice. Carol was born on May 29, 1941 in Dover, New Jersey to her parents George Jayne and Carolyn (Arkie) Jayne.
Carol and her late husband Arthur moved to Sumter County in 1968 from Denville, New Jersey. She had worked as an Architectural Specialist for an Architectural firm for several years in New Jersey. Carol was of the Christian faith. She was an active Master Gardener and was extremely devoted to the youth of Sumter County and started youth gardening programs. Carol was featured in many articles in the local papers in reference to her Gardening and her youth programs. She was an artist who had painted many landscape scenes and had also worked with many youths to educate and expose them to the arts. Carol was a member of Art Guild of Sumter County.
Carol is survived by her two loving sons: Mark Applegate of Oxford, FL and Jonnie Applegate of Oxford, FL; two beloved grandchildren: Janise Stiers and Aaron Applegate; sixteen loving great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 38 years, Arthur Applegate, a brother, Leonard Jayne, and her young son, Wade Applegate.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024 at 11:00AM at Banks, Page-Theus Funeral Home Chapel, Wildwood, Florida. Inurnment to take place at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Arthur.
