Barbara Ann Kurzeja's Obituary
Barbara “Barb” Kurzeja, 67, The Villages, Florida, passed away on March 3, 2022. Barbara was born on June 20, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois, to her parents, William Kurzeja and Stephanie (Kobos) Kurzeja.
Barbara thoroughly enjoyed her Villages and Las Vegas communities and the dear friends she made when she lived there. She was a generous friend and possessed an uncanny ability to connect to just about anyone. She touched the lives of many with her warmth, creativity, and gregarious nature. She had a disarming wit and an empathetic heart. She was more than just a cousin to Scott Jakubowski. She was an honorary sister to he and his wife Sandra, and the best "Auntie" to Jack, Griffin, Iris, and Holden. She was a devoted Godmother who adored Emma and her beautiful family. Sharing photos and stories of all those she spoiled and loved so deeply and often. Both she and Theresa, as well as their parents, loved traveling and made endless memories throughout their substantial travels.
She created some of the most beautiful quilts and had an amazing talent for sewing that she shared with so many. Her smile was as big as her heart, and her laugh was contagious. She, along with her parents and sister, had a passion for polka. While living in Nevada, you could easily find her at a casino many weekends with Auntie and Theresa and could surely expect a package sent to you with gifts or prizes she had won that she'd share with others.
A memorial chapel service for this beautiful soul will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, Illinois, on Saturday, October 11th, at 11:00 am. Mourners should gather by the main office of the cemetery before the service.
A celebration of life will be hosted following this service. Please contact Scott Jakubowski at 219-213-5664 for additional information.
