Ann J. Collins' Obituary
Patricia “Ann” Johnson Collins, age 85, passed away February 19, 2025. Ann was born to Joseph Henry and Susie Ethel (Crosby) Johnson in Wildwood, Florida. When asked her birthdate or age she would say “3 - 9 of ’39, thirty-nine and holding”. Ann graduated Wildwood High School in 1957 and married Frank Collins that July in Folkston, Georgia. She lived with her family in Dover and Jacksonville, returning to Wildwood for 44 years and most recently resided in Dothan, Alabama.
Ann played the piano by ear as well as reading music, sang in the choir, whistled very loud, was an excellent seamstress – she dressed to a “T” with a perfect beehive hairdo, gourmet chef – we ate grilled cheese sandwiches/pickles for breakfast every school day, impeccable housekeeper – several times on Sunday mornings we would be loaded in the car and Dad would find her still vacuuming the house. Ann taught Girl Scouts (Brownies), was an Assembly of God Missionettes (Prims) Teacher at Oxford Assembly of God. She drove the Lake Christian School van for the Wildwood area, worked at the Trading Post, Supernaturally showed up when you were in trouble, invented In-School Suspension, could drive any vehicle with a stick-shift and catch a pop fly. She credited her sister, Betty Jo, as being the one to raise her.
Thanks to Cousin Becky for being our 24/7 phone doctor. Special thanks to Renee for getting Mom to the Webb Senior Citizens Center.
