Andrew Cairns' Obituary
Andrew John Cairns age 89, passed away Sunday February 27, 2011 at The Villages Hospice House, The Villages, Florida. Mr. Cairns was born in May’s Landing, New Jersey and moved to the Wildwood area in 1982 from Valdosta, Georgia. He retired from the Army Corps. of Engineers where he worked for over 25 years as a Project Engineer. He was a charter member of the Faith Presbyterian Church in Oxford, Florida where he served as a Deacon and morning greeter. Andrew was a patriot and was a combat wounded veteran during W. W. II while serving in the U. S. Army. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer who played with the same foursome for over 20 years at the Continental Country Club, Wildwood, Florida. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 18 and the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars. He was also an avid Atlanta Braves fan. He was pre-deceased by: His wife of over 50 years – Ruby; his parents – Alfred and Olga Cairns; 2 daughters – Andrea Jane Nall and Mary Ruth Cairns; brothers – Alfred and Melvin Cairns; and a Sister – Edna Godbersen; Survivors include:His 2 Daughters- Linda (David) Kuester of LaFontaine, Indiana; and Cynthia (Danny) Krutina of Ogden, UT; His Fiancé and companion– Joyce Palmer of Wildwood, FL; 3 Grandchildren – Maj. Christopher Kuester of Jamestown, RI; Jonathan Kuester of East Dundee, IL; and Specialist Ivan Krutina – Ft. Richardson, Alaska; and 1 sister-in-law Elizabeth (Cairns) Schetrom of Melbourne, FL; and and 3 great-grandchildren – Trevette, Guthrie, and Cohen Kuester; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 on Friday, March 4, 2011 at Banks, Page Theus Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Wildwood, Florida. Additionally the family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 (Service time) Saturday at the Faith Presbyterian Church, Oxford, Florida. Mr. Cairns will be laid to rest next to his wife in Warrington, Indiana. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to: Faith Presbyterian Church - P.O. Box 98, Oxford, FL 34484.
