Mrs. Lois Strickland Mills was a cornerstone of many of our lives. It is a sad time for us, because we will miss her greatly, but it is also a loss of much history. My dad's mother and Lois' mother were sisters. Lois was a wonderful person. She had many many talents and one of the stories told of her is that she was an especially good cook...the story goes that she could see company coming in the front door, go out back, catch a chicken, wring it's neck, dress it and have it fried on the table for them before they could sit down in the living room. That might be a little stretch, but she was certainly very gifted. I will miss her sweetness, her beautiful smile and her loving kindness.
We are sad, but we have to celebrate such a long and tremendous lifetime. If we stop and think about the changes she has seen in her lifetime, we should be awed. From some of the first airplanes to a space shuttle going into space. From a horse and buggy to the modern automobile....From sparse letters, delivered by stagecoach to email. From an Edison phonograph to satellite tv. From a wood burning stove to a microwave. And the list goes on and Lois experienced it all.
Awesome. Yes, AWESOME describes her very well. She was an awesome lady and lived a truly awesome life. Although we will miss her we have to remember that she was a true Christian so her reward is waiting for her. She is now at peace and resting until she hears her Savior say.....Enter, thou good and faithful servant!
Grandma was a wonderful Christian lady loved by all who knew her. She will be missed greatly!!!
One of the sweetest ladies I have ever known, a true Christian lady. Her smiles and hugs will be be missed by not only me but also by many others who knew her. RIP Grandma!!!!
