I guess she and Louise are together on the other side now.
Sorry we have lost Billie Marie. She was in the same class as my sister, Louise. Louise and I always looked forward to seeing her at the Reunion. And Louise used to talk with her on the phone regularly as long as Billie Marie wa able. A number of years back we went by her house and had a good visit with her, sitting on that lovely back porch, looking out into the beautiful back yard, drinking iced tea. And of course her sister Roberta was in my class.
I have so many Wonderful Memories of Mrs. Winkles. She was a wonderful person. When I worked with her at North Sumter Intermediate & Wildwood Middle, I never hesitated to ask for her help...and she always dropped what she was doing to give it to me! My favorite memories of Mrs. Winkles were her humor and her chuckle. There was the time that WMS had bought a new copier. Whoever used it before me, left it jammed, so I ran to Ms. Winkles for help...of course she dropped what she was working on. She was frustrated that someone had left the machine in that shape, but, fixed it and showed me step by step how to keep this from happening again. She then smiled/chuckled and told that if she ever caught me not fanning that paper she'd go call my mama! 🙂 lol...There's also the time that when we sold tickets together at the WMS football games when she chuckled as she said, "Bennie, if you don't shut up that line is going to be backed up to the road"! She will be missed by all that knew her.
So sorry for your loss, you’re in my thoughts and prayers. I used to help Mrs. Winkles with yard work she was always very kind to me. She will be missed.
Love,
Thomas Davis
